Born in 1973 in the constellation of Pisces and, as they say, „washed with all waters“ in these 5 decades. My love for the sea has always been unbroken throughout my life. This makes it all the more astonishing for me because I would have drowned at the age of two if a young man with Down syndrome hadn’t saved my life.
As a teenager, I completely lost my heart to its maritime beauty on my first trip to Arcachon. Four friends in an old red VW Golf II loaded with surfboards, tents, ravioli, lots of beer and two weeks off. I remember as if it were yesterday, the moment when we got closer to the coast.
The road was lined with old oak and pine trees and the heat shimmered on the hot asphalt that lay straight in front of us. It was hot, the window was down and I leaned out – looked at the sun. I closed my eyes, took in the scent of the sea and the pine resin – this composition of loving nature and limitless freedom coupled with an enormous feeling of happiness permeated every cell of my body.
That moment my heart knew it had to return at some point…
